About Us
Since 2016, we have been working with all those in mind who wish to draw inspiration from the region’s cinematic potential.
About Us

The Podkarpackie Film Commission was established by the Podkarpackie Voivodship in 2016. It operates within the structure of the Regional House of Culture in Rzeszow. The commission’s main activity is providing comprehensive support for audiovisual productions.
We assist the production process at every stage — from finding the best locations, helping obtain required permits, and connecting productions with regional audiovisual specialists, to facilitating access to post-production and other related services.
We maintain an up-to-date database of filming locations and local professionals and service providers. We actively promote the region to Polish and international filmmakers and cooperate with local government institutions and state authorities, building relationships with city and municipal officials to provide full support for productions.
A key instrument of the Commission is its financial support programme for film productions carried out in the region. In 2016, the Commission launched a pilot initiative entitled Podkarpackie Film Chronicle, under which documentary films are produced to showcase places, people and events connected with the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The catalogue currently includes more than 80 completed films.
The Commission also serves as the operator of the Podkarpackie Regional Film Fund, through which producers may obtain funding for feature, documentary or animated films. Financial support is granted in the form of co-production contributions and has been awarded through a competitive call since 2017.
The Commission is also actively engaged in fostering film culture in the region by organising film-related events. The most important of these is the Podkarpackie Film Trail.
In addition, the Commission implements educational projects aimed at developing the film competences of young creators and facilitating their professional start. Since 2017, the Commission has run the camON programme, which offers emerging filmmakers the opportunity to work under the guidance of experienced professionals and gain practical on-set skills. Since 2022, the Commission has cooperated with the Innovative Schools Complex in Jarosław to deliver pilot advanced training courses for students in creative fields, focusing on sound design, colour grading and editing — professions currently in short supply on the labour market.
The Commission’s activities are reshaping the image of Podkarpackie as a film-friendly region and contribute to its cultural, economic and tourism development.
With its rich history and inspiring proximity to Ukraine and Slovakia, Podkarpackie is one of the most culturally diverse regions of Poland, offering significant film potential. The region features historic landmarks and locations seen on the big screen, including well-preserved historic urban layouts (Przemyśl), charming small towns (Jaśliska), and magnate residences dating back to the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth (Łańcut).
Equally valuable is the region’s natural landscape, particularly the Bieszczady Mountains. Their vast mountain meadows, rolling slopes shimmering with changing colours, and unspoilt scenery provide a unique cinematic setting that has long been successfully used by filmmakers.
All of this, combined with convenient transport infrastructure — an international airport in the regional capital, a motorway running west to east across the region, and the openness and support of local authorities — makes Podkarpackie an infinite film space: a welcoming and production-friendly environment.
Filmmakers About the Commission
Jan Jakub Kolski - Director
I am delighted with the way we were welcomed here and with the amount of positive energy we received from the region’s residents in the many locations where we were filming. The warmth, dedication and support we experienced truly surprised me, and I am deeply grateful for it
