The Beskid Niski range in the Podkarpackie region is the least explored touristically of the Polish Carpathians, characterised by wild, rewilded nature and numerous traces of the region’s former inhabitants — the Lemkos.

The landscape is defined by vast expanses of Carpathian beech forests, unique raised peat bogs known locally as berezednie, and the breakthrough valleys of the Jasiołka and Wisłok rivers, dotted with rock outcrops.

The area is marked by depopulated valleys containing the remains of former villages, Orthodox churches, and cemeteries, as well as historic urban layouts such as Jaśliska, notable for its unique wooden buildings with arcaded (post-and-plank) construction.
