The Municipal Market Hall in Jarosław was the first building in the city to combine a modern structural system with a historicising architectural form.

The building was commissioned by the Municipality of Jarosław on a site purchased in 1910 on Grodzka Street. After several unsuccessful design competitions, the project was entrusted in 1913 to architect Henryk Pohoryles. His innovative structural solutions were concealed behind a façade referencing the architecture of the historic Market Square, while the spacious interior was inspired by the Market Hall in Wrocław designed by Richard Plüddemann and Friedrich Friese.

Construction, delayed by the outbreak of World War I, was completed in 1924, and the official opening of the building took place on 9 January 1925.
