Industrial, Historical, Public Buildings

The only museum located on the site of an active oil mine. It features over a dozen 19th-century structures, both above and below ground. The history of the kerosene lamp is enclosed in this single location.

The museum is a large complex of facilities from the time of Ignacy Łukasiewicz. Practically every historical monument here was built in the 19th century. You will find "kopanki" here – hand-dug oil wells originally reaching 50 and 132 meters (both later deepened to 150 and 250 meters), an obelisk from 1872, and a wooden mechanical workshop.

Other buildings include the mine's Administration Building (the so-called Łukasiewicz House), a wooden mine forge with old blacksmith tools, and a reconstructed manual drilling rig. A boiler room, drilling rigs, old pumps and compressors, collections of tools, forest pathways, and many other items perfectly reflect the atmosphere of those years.
