The Jarosław underground is a unique, nationwide system of multi-level merchant cellars and corridors, offering a fascinating testimony to the former commercial power of the city.

The oldest section of the route, named after Prof. Feliks Zalewski and opened to the public in 1984, runs beneath the 17th-century Rydzik Townhouse and reaches a depth of nearly 9 metres across three levels. The structure comprises raw brick chambers (known as gruby) connected by sloping transport ramps, which from the 16th century served as extensive storage facilities carved directly into layers of loess.

The underground architecture is distinguished by its authentic vaulting and historic ventilation shafts, forming a complex network of corridors beneath the Market Square. In the 1960s, the system was secured using mining engineering methods.
