Hugo from Jasło
During a math class in King Stanisław Leszczyński High School in Jasło, the teacher asks the students about Hugo Steinhaus – a accomplished mathematician, a native to Jasło, who also taught at that school. Together with a historian we explore the history of this town from the time of Hugo`s life. The town from the mathematician`s times is juxtaposed with the one we can currently see.
Wiesław Hap, a regionalist from Jasło, talks about the life of Steinhaus, life after war, his job, his scientific carreer. We find out from the expert how big of a role Steinhaus played in the world of mathematics. About his private life we find out from his grandson – Michael Kott. The movie shows Jasło in a few perspectives.
