The Podkarpacka Film Commission invites submissions to the 8th edition of the film production support competition titled “Podkarpacka Film Chronicle 2023”.

The budget of the Podkarpacka Film Chronicle for 2023 amounts to PLN 80,000 gross. The funds are provided from the budget of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship.

The aim of the Competition is to capture, in film form, events, places, and people connected with the Podkarpackie region. The program is intended to foster conditions for the development of film production in the region, as well as to document its history, present day, cultural heritage, and natural environment.

The films should document the cultural and social heritage of the region; commemorate individuals (historical figures, representatives of creative and academic communities, athletes, community activists, and others associated with the region) and social groups, as well as their contribution to shaping the region’s image and everyday life; and present events, places, elements of heritage, traditions, and social initiatives that are significant to the region’s culture and history.

The deadline for submission of applications is March 31, 2023.

The date of submission is defined as the date the application is received by the Institution. Applications must be submitted both in printed and electronic form. Applications should be delivered to the Secretariat at the Institution’s headquarters at the following address:

The Institution reserves the right to suspend the competition procedure or cancel the competition.

On May 16, 2023, a remote meeting of the Competition Committee of the Podkarpacka Film Chronicle was held in Rzeszów. The committee consisted of Marta Kraus, Aleksandra Gorzelak-Nieduży, Jagoda Mazepa, and Tomasz Leyko.

The competition budget for 2023 amounts to PLN 80,000 gross, financed from the budget of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. A total of 8 applications were submitted, requesting combined funding of PLN 145,430 gross. All 8 applications qualified for the substantive evaluation stage.

During the committee’s deliberations, the following Applicants were selected and will be invited to negotiate co-production agreements:

The program operator is the Podkarpacka Film Commission, operating within the structure of the Regional Cultural Centre in Rzeszów. As a result of the concluded competition, the Voivodeship House of Culture will become a co-producer of the selected productions.
